San Ysidro Estate Residence
The planning and design of this Montecito estate was based on our client’s passion for early California architecture and fondness for the nearby San Ysidro Ranch Resort. The rambling, rural nature of San Ysidro Ranch began from humble beginnings in 1893. It evolved into a tranquil vacation destination for the most discriminating of travelers, of which our client was one. “Make it look like it has been there for 100 years, but include all the modern amenities,” was the charge given to DMHA. Blending natural beauty with romantic heritage and classic luxury was a formidable challenge. Abundant private patios, indoor-outdoor living spaces, and classic proportioned traditional massing inspired the floor plan designs and exterior elevations. Timeless exterior materials including Santa Barbara Sandstone, Board and Batt siding, standing seam Copper Roof, and natural wood finish carpentry complimented the overall design, making this unique home a perfect fit for the Montecito foothill site.
