Habit Burger headquarters | Santa Barbara
Originally a 35-year old grocery store in the heart of a vibrant commercial center, this project was a complete transformation. Two entrepreneurial brothers bought the structure to recycle and give it new life. One corner of the new facility would serve as a flagship location for their growing Habit Burger Grill, while the upstairs was used to accommodate corporate offices for the Habit Burger headquarters. The building was stripped down to its structural frame, recycling a significant portion of the existing building materials and a new energy-efficient skin employed a rich, warm palette of natural materials and colors. The clients desired a contemporary style, so we designed a structure that the Architectural Review board would eventually call “just the right mix of old and new.” Details include natural finish FSC redwood, copper pipe handrails and downspouts, natural finish red brick pavers, VGDF wood doors, and clear finish aluminum hardware and window mullions.
